Had another fab time visiting Chris Bradshaw at the Birmingham Print Centre today. The centre is run by an artists’ co-operative which has been going for a few decades. One becomes a member for a monthly fee and then can use the facilities. There are two large printing flatbeds for screen printing that are bookable, otherwise the other facilities are available most of the time.

When I arrived Chris was just finishing off some screen prints that will become a concertina book. She also showed me her animal alphabet made using two screens and a gorgeous embossed print on papers that had previously received a complimentary screen print.

The rooms were light and airy and there is a dark room with  an exposure unit that can also be used as a light box. The place is well equipped – flatbeds,  airers, etc. Members provide their own screens, but they each have a large drawer to store papers.
