Just heard the excellent Open Country on Old Oswestry Hillfort today at 3.0. produced by Toby Field.

Catch it on iplayer if you missed it. An excellent balanced, clear and really interesting progamme.

OC_Old Oswestry_Helen and Rachel PopeLoved it.

Rachel Pope, George Nash and John Waine all gave clear concise input on the historical aspects of the fort, including the link to Oswestry’s very own WW1 poet Wilfred Owen. Shropshire Wildlife input was also fascinating – yellow hammers and other threatened species make a home there.  Helen Mark managed to convey the magically special atmosphere of the fort and the area.
