The beautiful five-piece tapestry of the Hillfort from the eastern  side designed and created by members of The Project Group – now Designs in Mind, usually on display in The Guildhall, is now displayed in Hermon Chapel until late in April 2016. After which it will then be on display in The Willow Gallery until late in May 2016. We are  very grateful for the loan by David Preston of this really interesting and beautiful piece of work, and equally grateful to Mo Vyse for loaning her two paintings to hang in the Guildhall instead.

Also on display are the four banners -“Children Hugging the Hillfort” (CHOOOH) made last summer when local children came up onto the fort and made hand prints and ancient tool prints on cotton twill dust sheets using organic clay slip with natural ochres. They came to lay claim to their heritage in the hope that the powers that be today make the right Heritage decisions for their future and the future of their children…..Don’t forget to watch Griff’s Great Britain on Monday 22nd February at 8.0 pm ITV when you may well catch a glimpse of the children in action.

Holy Trinity pics

Children from Holy Trinity C of E School in Oswestry have also been making beautifully designed resist paintings based on, and inspired by some photographic aerial views of the Hillfort. These now decorate the pulpit in Hermon Chapel.
