Thank you very much to everyone who came on such a cold and wet night. The Chapel is a delightful venue and Barry made us all very welcome with drinks and music!

We had a good meeting with members of campaign group Hands Off Old Oswestry Hillfort HOOOH. (Both Neil and Kate were on radio Shropshire at 8.25 this morning talking about our continued fight to prevent the Hillfort setting, the surrounding landscape of the Hillfort from being swallowed up by a modern housing development when there are many other areas in and around Oswestry that could be built on instead.)

The surrounding landscape, the setting is all part and parcel and of great importance to the monument. None of us know what archaeological treasures lie beneath, or what might yet be discovered about the ancient site. One has only to notice how the recent amazing find near Cambridge has unearthed never-before-to-be-found treasures that throw a light on how our ancestors lived. (Dr. Rachael Pope, one of the HOOOH campaigners was recently interviewed on radio about that site)
