Rob and I (and Oliver) took a trip out yesterday to Ruthin Craft Centre and then Theatre Clwyd to visit some of the exhibitions on our list. I was particularly pleased to be able to see Jessica Lloyd Jones works that I have posted about recently.
Jessica Lloyd-Jones work was displayed along with other works by various artists under the title of Southern lines and Northern lights. Other works on display in the gallery included a large exhibition of expressionist pots by Simon Carroll along with a video of him mark-making on the beach using garden and household tools, racing against the incoming tide!
and a lovely display of works by Artist Pamela Rawnsley, very reminiscent of Bauhaus simplicity.
And then we met Mel from my M.A. course, which was a lovely surprise!
After a delicious lunch in the Ruthin Cafe R – always exceptionally good food and good value for money – we headed off to Theatre Clwyd to see the wonderful works of Sara Jane Harper. Another exhibition NOT TO BE MISSED!
……followed by earl grey tea in the cafe and a walk in Chirk Castle on the way home. A perfect day!
The Ruthin Craft Centre exhibition is excellent – we went a fortnight ago and loved the Jessica Lloyd-Jones pieces and the Simon Carroll video. I noticed there was a leaflet for an Art Trail around Ruthin, with small works set into light boxes. Does anyone know more about this?
