Gallery Tour in Welsh
Monday 26 January
6pm: Oriel Sycharth Gallery at Glyndwr University, Wrexham
7.30pm: Methodist Church, Regent Street, Wrexham
Led by Andrew Parry Head of Welsh Language and Affairs at Glyndwr University and Jennie Hurd Chair of Synod Cymru. The tour will begin at the University at 6pm before moving to the Church at 7.30pm for a tour of the artworks there. The tour will be in the Welsh language.
A conversation with Clive Hicks-Jenkins: ‘painter of stories’

7pm: Methodist Church, Regent Street, Wrexham
Clive Hicks-Jenkins is a highly successful choreographer, director and stage designer who, in the 1990’s, turned his creative energy to painting. He was commissioned to paint the story of the woman caught in adultery told in John 8v1-11 which is on display at the Methodist Church. He will be in conversation with Meryl Doney.
Putting Art in Churches
Thursday 29 January
5pm: Oriel Sycharth Gallery at Glyndwr University, Wrexham
What are the issues for artist and church in putting art into sacred (and awkward) places? Meryl Doney is a freelance fine art curator specialising in presenting exhibitions in cathedrals, churches, festivals and other challenging spaces.
The Heaven and Earth exhibition runs until 26 March 2015. This is a unique compilation of 20th Century Christian art including more than 40 works by Graham Sutherland, Elisabeth Frink, Ceri Richards and many other renowned artists. The exhibition will be open from Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4.00pm at both the Oriel Sycharth Gallery and the Wrexham Methodist Church.
