Huge thanks to Angela Scott for a really lovely afternoon at her studio yesterday! There is absolutely no substitute for seeing work “in
the flesh”, and we were treated to a feast of creativity. Angela gave us the background to her art journey and showed us her processes
from sketchbook to finished pieces. Angela explained how she feels it is important to “take the viewer with you” and “lead the viewer in”
and many of her paintings evoke feelings of a journey – some are reminiscent of actual physical journeys through dreamy evocative
worlds while others seem to speak of more intimate, thoughtful and inner journeys. Some of her exciting new works are delving further
into abstraction, and manage to successfully convey huge areas of space within in a small painted area. We talked about practical issues
such as types of paper and the challenges of framing. After tea and yummy brownies we were treated to a tour of the house to see some of
Angela’s collection of artworks. As always these visits to an artist’s studio are enormously enriching and mutually beneficial, as it is
sometimes a lonely job and meeting up to discuss work in progress helps to keep the”creative juices flowing.”
Along with other Borderland Visual Arts artists, Angela is opening her studio for the annual Open
Studios event in and around Oswestry this June. If you are on the trail, this one is a must!
So sorry to have missed it. Looks so professional. Would love to participate, but too scruffy here at present. xox
