On our 3rd Birthday we would like to thank everyone who has supported the Willow Gallery,  hopefully together we can make the next 3 years even better! To celebrate we are launching an exciting programme of live music nights LIVE @ THE WILLOW including Radio 2 Young Folk Musicians of the year (2011) MOORE MOSS RUTTER . Tickets now on sale. Introduction to Oil Painting with Tereska Shepherd.
Starting Tuesday 1st October
5 sessions

Discover the exciting world of oil painting through this inspiring starter course. Ideal for those who wish to learn and develop skills in a variety of oil painting techniques Enjoy having time to be creative.This course is an Aberystwyth Lifelong Learning Course, and therefore provides the optional opportunity to gain 10 credits towards a certificate in Art and Design, if you wish, or can be completed for fun!

Animals & Wildlife in Pastels with Katherine Laird
Saturday 5th October. 10.30am to 4pm
This is a fantastic opportunity to explore a wide range of soft pastel techniques with the expert guidance of professional artist Katherine Laird. The course includes an introduction to soft pastels, their application and techniques, techniques for depicting various elements of an animal’s features and different types of body covering (ie ‘tufty’ fur, hair, feathers, etc). Choose an animal from a selection or bring your own A4 image and paint this picture using soft pastels and the techniques experienced during the morning session.

Painting with Felt: Feltmaking Workshop with Sue Mulcock
Saturday 12th October, 10.30am to 4pm,
Create your own unique felt artwork with expert guidance from professional artist Sue Mulcock. Bring your own photograph or image to inspire your exploration with colour and texture. A variety of felting techniques and British wool types will be explored.
Workshop suitable for beginners and improvers.
£38 per person, including materials

Beginners Drawing Course with Leo Donaghy
Starting Thursday 17th October for 4 weeks. 9.30am – 1pm
Think you can’t Draw? You can!
Learn how with artist Leo Donaghy by exploring a variety of drawing techniques.

Colour Reduction Lino Cut Workshop With Ian Philips
Saturday 19th October 10:00am to 4:30pm 
Minimum age – 18
A fantastic opportunity to explore a variety of Lino Cut techniques and hand burnishing printing with this experienced professional printmaker.
What to bring – Apron, sketch paper, pencil, biro and some pictures/drawings/photo’s you would like to produce as a linocut. Drawing/sketch should be as simple and as bold as possible.

Price per person – £45.00 All materials included. (Lino, paper, ink, cutting tools, etc)

Pinhole Photography Workshop with Ben Partridge
Saturday 26th October. 10:30am to 4pm.
Discover the intriguing world of Pinhole Photography, learn how to make your own cameras and create unique photographs.

Clay Animal Workshop with Willie Carter 
Friday 1st November – 10.30 to 4pm
Experiment with a variety of clay modeling techniques with expert guidance from professional potter, Willie Carter.

Oil Portrait Painting Course with Internationally Renowned Artist Max Baccanello. 
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th November10.30am to 5pm
Max Studied fine art in Florence, Italy, and has recently had work shortlisted for the Royal Society of Portrait painters exhibition in London. Throughout the course he will be teaching and demonstrating a variety of portrait drawing and painting techniques and participants will have the opportunity to create their own oil portrait painting on canvas.
A selection of materials will be provided however if possible please bring: Oil Paints : White, ivory black, orche, ultramarine blue, raw umber, vermilion red. Canvas approx 40 cm x 30cm. Paint brushes, paint palette, easel.
£120 for two days. (£50 deposit required on booking)

Friday 18th October – MOORE MOSS RUTTER
Winners of Radio 2 Young Folk Awards 2011.
Combining musical material, style and tradition from their three distinct regions of the UK; Norfolk, Somerset and Yorkshire respectively, Tom Moore (violin), Archie Churchill-Moss (Melodeon) and Jack Rutter (Guitar) create original material and rework English tunes and compositions into sets and songs which have been described as “intelligently crafted musical adventures”. Often praised for musical “maturity and sophistication.”

Friday 15th November – CEILIDH – The Devil’s Chair Ceilidh Band 
Sure to get you dancing!
The band has been formed from experienced musicians’ and singers who wanted to blend their own styles into a toe tapping and memorable selection of English/Welsh/Scottish and Irish music.  We offer an eclectic mix of tunes and songs to entertain for the whole evening whilst guiding dancers through a variety of dances.  Our line up is Andy Jones fiddle. Andrew Norman concertina/vocals. John Evans guitar/vocals. Hilary Evans bodhran/caller.  Dunbabin Room
Friday 29th November – SONGDOG – “A totally unique sound” Jack Douglas (producer of George Harrison, John Lennon etc…)
Songdog is centred around Lyndon Morgans (singer/songwriter and award-winning playwright) along with Karl Woodward, Dave Paterson and Jasper Salmon, whose delicate, stripped-down instrumentation surrounds intricate stories of life, love and loss. They have received great press reviews and airplay on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Arctic Circle & Resonance amongst others and appeared at international festivals in Japan, Canada, Spain & Sweden.

Friday 20th December – THE GREGORY S DAVIES BAND  – Back by Popular Demand!
A sell out success when they first performed at the Willow, we are looking forward to welcoming back The Gregory S. Davies Band. Fronted by singer-songwriter and multitalented musician Gregory Davies accompanied by drums, fiddle, guitar and bass. The band have diverse styles encompassing gypsy folk, latin, blues, boogie-woogie and Americana. A unique sound and wonderful original lyrics. An uplifting experience from these ‘nice guys’ as recently described at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

For all Main Gallery performances The Willow Eatery will be offering a delicious selection of home cooked meals, desserts, light bites, alcoholic beverages, hot drinks and soft drinks. Tables for these evenings will be limited and on a first come first served basis, therefore bookings for food from 7.00pm onwards are taken and pre-orders are required.

Young Artists Workshops – Tuesdays from 24th September –  4 to 5:30pm
For ages 6-12 – £6 per session, including all materials. £30 for 6 session.
Have fun exploring a variety of artistic techniques to create your own original artwork with expert guidance from professional artists and educators. Projects will include: book making and decoration, printing, sculpture, sewing and much more. Learn about different artists and techniques with like-minded young people.

Textile Weaving Workshop– Saturday 12th September – 11am to 1pm, 6-12yrs, £6
Have fun exploring a variety of weaving techniques to create your own woven artwork with guidance from a professional weaver.    Perfect for all the family to join in!

3D Apples in Felt – Saturday 19th October, 10am-1pm, £6
Have fun making your own unique apples out of felt.
