Not as serious a business as this actually looks, but great fun – making paper clay with Steve Keegan and Dorothy Harrison at North Wales School of Art at Glyndwr University today. The clay is mixed with pulped paper in approximately equal quantities and then kneeded well to distribute the paper fibres within the stickiness of the clay. When fired the resulting artifacts are lighter than would expect as the paper is burned away in the firing process leaving really interesting shapes and holes.

More photos or the process to follow.
