An email came through this afternoon with a big thank you from all the staff at Oswestry Library to everyone who helped make our National Libraries Day event work so well. The library collected feedback from everyone who came. Lots of really positive comments, and some of the most frequent were:
It was fun…
We learnt something new today…
We would come to a similar event…
Debbie says that staff also had a great time – and really enjoyed the atmosphere on the day.
If anyone has any ideas for future events at the Library, just speak up – the Library would love to have us back! Here’s to helping to make the Oswestry Library a real hub for local arts!
hello everyone, one of my suggestions for National Library Day is that we could also take it out to places like Gobowen and Ellesmere. I think one of the attractions of last Saturday was that there was a great variety of things going on. The restriction on paint is limiting for some of us, but maybe we could have a big draw session? Any other suggestions? Brenda
I think both of those ideas are excellent – are they still doing The Big Draw as a national event? Could a Big Draw type event be combined with National LIbraries Day? With regards to Oswestry Library and painting specifically, Debbie did say that it might be possible in future to use the Meeting Room for anything involving painting. And it might also be possible if we did something like this during the spring or summer to do some painting outside, on the steps.
No reason why not! the whole area up there is interesting – seats below the Bailey for instance. A sketching day INSIDE the Library on a rainy day – possibly even portrait drawing -3 way portrait drawing – children drawing artists………artists drawing parents – parents drawing children……..
