Courses & Workshops

Painting with Wool

Saturday 29th September 11-5pm

Create your own unique felt landscape artwork with expert guidance of professional felt artist Sue Mulcock. Experimentation with colour and texture in landscape, captured through the exciting and versatile medium of wool. Bring a favourite photograph or picture to inspire your.

Beginners and improvers

£35 Please book in advance due to limited places.

All welcome. Please bring an apron and washing up gloves.


RSPCA Talk – with Lee Stuart & Wildlife Artists

Friday 12th of October 6-7pm

Brilliant opportunity to gain an insight into the fascinating work of the RSPCA and find out more about the inspiration and art practise of several RSPCA wildlife artists exhibiting as part of the Transient Nature Exhibition.


Three Day Clay Portrait Sculpture Course  with Internationally Renowned Sculptor Maxmillion Baccanello

Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th of November

11am-5pm each day (Including a 45 min lunch break)

Max Studied fine art at The Charles H. Cecil Studio in Florence, Italy and has recently had work accepted in the Royal Society of Portrait Sculpture Exhibition in London . This course is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

During this fantastic course learn how to sculpt a head from life. Over the 3 days you will learn how to make a life size head from creating the armature to the last final details that bring a sculpture to life. All this will be done using the sight size tradition. The course will include demonstrations of a variety of sculpting techniques and continuing individual advice and assistance will be given during the sessions.

Supplied on the course and to take home: Steal armature stand, wooden base, modelling clay. You are able to take your sculpture home at the end of the course giving you the option to then have it cast or work from it. Sculpture Stand and Modelling tools will also be supplied therefore you just need to bring yourself, but if you would like to bring your own tools please do so.

Due to limited places please book in advance.

£185 for the three days, including all materials and armature. (£50 deposit required on booking.)


Willow Weaving – Family Fun Workshop

With Professional Willow Weavers & Tutors Helen & Kalvin Stanley

Saturday 10th November 1-4pm. All Welcome

We are excited to welcome back the enthusiastic and highly skillsed Helen & Kalvin Stanley.  Have fun experimenting with a variety of willow weaving techniques to create your own willow sculpture – bird feeders & boxes or let your imagination run wild!

£8 including all materials.

Willow Gallery Autumn Craft Fair

Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th of October

The Craft Fair will take place over two adjoining spaces the main gallery and the Dunbabin room from 10.30 am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The fair will feature a variety of beautiful local craft including glass, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, art and much more. Perfect for gifts or taking home something unique and hand-made for yourself! Featuring fascinating demonstrations by local crafts people.

Art History Evenings

With International Museum Educator Felicity Woods

Starting Tuesday 25th September for 6 weeks

6-7.30 pm

A thematic approach to great works of art. Each evening includes a talk about Iconic works of art followed by discussion and exploration of the Willow Gallery’s current collections.

Themes including: Symbolism, mythology and changing concepts of beauty.

A Special day city visit will also be arranged to explore the collections of several well known galleries.

Young Artists Group

Explore the exciting world of art and art history with other like minded young artists and the expert guidance of a professional artist.

Experiment with sculpture, printing, painting and photographic techniques.

Suitable for 11-18 year olds.

£6 per session. £30 for 6 weeks.

Granny Willow Story Time: ‘A Very Big Problem’

Thursday 1st November 2-3.30pm

This story time is held in the Dunbabin room, the session includes exciting and creative activities; Storytelling, Model Making, Painting, Play Acting & Story Writing, A afternoon for children aged 5-10

£6.50 including materials.


Feature Wall Artist – Judth Harrison

Judith Harrison explores the wonderful collograph printing techniques in the inspiring exhibition. Through her work she captures the movement and atmosphere of the natural world and the subtle textures and colours affording by collograph techniques. Definitely an exhibition not to be missed.

Featuring Peter Fletcher’s Olympic Artwork Collection

Going For Gold – NATSPEC Art Competition Prize Winners & Entries in associated with The Derwen College

Saturday 22nd September –Saturday 20th October

A varied, colourful and energetic exhibition of artwork inspired by The Olympic & Paralympic Games and Torch Parade.Including mosaic, pastel and wire work.

Prize winning Categories include: 5-10, 11-17, 18-25 and Professional Artists.
