Borderland Visual Arts Open Studios event held annually over 2 weekends in June, has become a familiar and noteworthy part of Oswestry’s summer season. Red balloons mark the locations of studios where, around half of the 68 member artists will be participating in the event, now in its 12th year.  This year there are many more shared studios which makes it easier for visitors to view as many artists as possible. The event takes place on June 9/10 and 16/17th, coming right after the Jubilee celebrations ..

Arguably some of the best contemporary art in the area will be on view, be it sculpture, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, glass, textiles, designer jewellery and mixed media. Art lovers enjoy the opportunity to chat with artists in a welcoming informal atmosphere and learn about their art and their lives, some of which have been as colourful as their work. Style and content vary from the traditional to the contemporary, from the conventional to the quirky.

On the group’s excellent website, you can preview participating artists and customize your own route map to those of particular interest to you. Alternatively you can download the complete Open Studios Leaflet which offers comprehensive details, maps and directions to all studios, or pick up a printed leaflet in various locations in and around Oswestry.

Studios will be open from 10 -5, and at other times by appointment with the artists
