We had a great notebook meeting today with a number of new comers and old faces turning up. We discussed sketching dates and places and aim to have a sketching day on the second saturday of every month.  The next sketching day is Saturday 11th February at Whittington Castle. As the castle is about to be  “upgraded”, we need to get there before that  happens!

Whittington Castle, Oswestry, Shropshire

Come along with sketching gear, warm clothes  to meet us there from 10.30 onwards. We’ll use one of the nearby pubs for lunch, or you can bring sandwiches if you prefer. All welcome.

John and I had met earlier in the day with Paul Roberts from Wem Town Hall to explain the activities and aspirations of Inside Out, and share ideas. Paul would be interested in collaborating and has offered the Town Hall venue as an exhibition space at some point in the future. Wem artists are always welcome to drop in on our meetings and we hope to set up a Twinning system between Wem artists and Inside Out Art group in the future. Many thanks to Paul for setting up the meeting and we very much look forward to working with you in the future.

We were delighted to welcome photographer Alison ‘Alban’ Mclean who will be sending us more information about Red Eye Photography  and other interesting photography projects to be posted on the blog shortly. We also welcomed Penny Parker who is looking for art classes and has been pointed in the direction of Bob Knowles at Cambrian,(Bob will be expanding these shortly to include stone carving and foundry work) and Rob McBride Tree Hunter  whose stunning tree photographs were enjoyed by all and are a real treat.BBC News – Tree hunter Rob McBride’s three-year Offa’s Dyke search

Julie Wem’s degree show date in Chester is 21st June – something for your diaries, and all welcome.  Rosie showed us photos of her developing body of work for ARTWORKS, working with the opticians, and John informs us that he is “trying out” a tattoo tomorrow. Watch this space folks!
